Craft & Art

It is a fact that arts and crafts, in their various forms of expression, enabling the stroke victims to focus on and be mindful of something outside themselves. Music, painting, dance, decorative craft making, framing, photography, poetry, are powerful tools that enable stroke victims to regain balance allowing their bodies to heal themselves faster.  It also allows the recovery of confidence, dignity and self-esteem. They sometimes even get to learn a form of livelihood which may become useful to them later in life.

We believe that there is life after a stroke and we’ve noted that those who engage in art and craft-making recuperate faster and come out of the stroke and able to function as normal members of society expressing themselves and be proud of their achievements.

We hold that instead of thinking of the stroke as a curse, it should be seen as an opportunity to develop one’s creativity and to meet new people and understand oneself better.  Recognition of a person’s achievements goes a long way in helping him to become happy with himself and with the world around him. We believe that happiness does more than heal. It also prevents a recurrence of the stroke and strengthens the immune system. Arts and crafts development instills in the stroke victim a feeling of inner joy and happiness – a sense of worth that helps him to move on.
